O Lord.
O Supreme Personality of Godhead, O my Lord, You have descended into the Yadu dynasty, and thus You have spent one hundred twenty-five autumns with Your devotees.

Translation
O Supreme Lord! O master! Descending in the Yadu dynasty, you have passed one hundred and twenty-five years.
Śarac-chatam means one hundred years.
Personal Guidance
Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, descended into the Yadu dynasty and spent 125 autumns with His devotees — His presence is the gift, not a metaphor.
Practical Applications
- Today, read or hear one passage about Kṛṣṇa's personal descent into the Yadu line and refuse to abstract Him into a symbol.
- Mark on the calendar that you, like the Yadus, have a finite span with Kṛṣṇa's saṅga in this life — and spend one block of time accordingly.
- Speak to Kṛṣṇa directly, by name, once today, the way the Yadus addressed Him as Puruṣottama and Prabho.
Reflection Questions
- If Kṛṣṇa actually descended and spent 125 autumns with His devotees, what in my life shows that I take that historical fact seriously?
- Where am I treating association with Kṛṣṇa as infinite and renewable, instead of as the bounded gift the Yadus knew it to be?
For Each Age Group
youth
- Treat your four years of college, or this one season of friendships, as a Yadu-like window — bounded, not infinite — and choose one association accordingly today.
- When a class or post tells you God is just "the universe" or "your higher self," notice the reduction and read one śloka that addresses Kṛṣṇa as Puruṣottama instead.
- Put your phone down for the length of one āratī and address Kṛṣṇa by name, the way the Yadus addressed Him as Prabho.
householder
- Calculate honestly how many autumns you likely have left with your parents, spouse, or children, and let that number reshape one decision this week.
- In family worship tonight, address Kṛṣṇa personally — by name, as Puruṣottama — so your children hear surrender directed to a Person, not a concept.
- Refuse the workplace habit of speaking of "the universe" or "energy" when you mean Kṛṣṇa; correct it gently in your own speech first.
senior
- Count your remaining autumns the way the Yadus counted 125, and let that count, not your fears, govern how you spend this week.
- Tell one younger devotee a true thing about Kṛṣṇa as a Person — not as the Self — so the personalist line passes through you intact.
- Loosen one attachment today that assumes you have unlimited time with a particular body, relationship, or role.
Common Pitfalls
- Reading the 125 autumns as poetic exaggeration rather than as the literal span of Kṛṣṇa's manifest pastimes.
- Dissolving Puruṣottama into an impersonal Absolute, so the verse becomes about "presence" instead of about a Person.
- Romanticizing the Yadus' association while ignoring that even they had a finite window — and so do I.
Discussion Prompts
- What does it change for you to address Kṛṣṇa as Puruṣottama — the Supreme Person — rather than as the Self or consciousness?
- The Yadus had 125 autumns with Him in person; we have books, the holy name, and devotees. Is that less, equal, or in some way more — and defend your answer.
- Where in your life are you behaving as if Kṛṣṇa's nearness is permanent and unearned, and where are you behaving as if it is precious and bounded?
Role Play
A senior devotee tells a new student, "Kṛṣṇa's 125 years in Dvārakā are just a story — what matters is the inner Self." The student feels something is wrong but cannot articulate why. Pair up: one plays the senior, one the student, and work through the response a Gauḍīya teacher would want the student to arrive at.
Objections & Responses
- 125 autumns is obviously mythological exaggeration — taking it literally is naïve.
The Gauḍīya line receives the Bhāgavatam as historical revelation, not mythology. Kṛṣṇa's descent into the Yadu dynasty, His pastimes, and their duration are factual; treating them as symbol is precisely the impersonalism the verse resists by naming Him Puruṣottama and Prabho. - Why does it matter whether Kṛṣṇa is a Person? Isn't surrender to the Absolute the same either way?
It is not the same. You cannot address, serve, or love an abstraction; the Yadus did not pray to a principle, they prayed to Him — bhavataḥ, You. Surrender becomes real only when the One you surrender to is a Person who can receive it.
