Important Words
-
ārya-miśra
—
with My respected elder
Compound: ārya (noble, elder) + miśra (associated with). Balarāma is referenced obliquely as ārya — the Bhāgavatam consistently has Kṛṣṇa speak of His elder brother in tones of deference; Gauḍīyas treasure this as the etiquette of yugala-tattva.
-
caidya-pakṣīyāḥ
—
those of Śiśupāla's faction
Compound: caidya (descendant of Cedi, i.e. Śiśupāla) + pakṣīya (party-member). Even after their leader's liberation by the cakra, his political party persists — a Bhāgavatam reminder that the death of a demon does not automatically dissolve the network of demonic sympathies.
-
purīm mama
—
My city
Possessive — Dvārakā is mama, Kṛṣṇa's own city. Gauḍīyas dwell on this: Bhagavān willingly takes on possessive love for a place, a people, a city, in order to play the part of a king who can be moved by their danger.
The Lord said to Himself: Because I have come here with My respected elder brother, kings partial to Śiśupāla may well be attacking My capital city.

Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura
Gauḍīya
Translation
The Lord said to Himself: Because I have come here with My respected elder brother, kings partial to Śiśupāla may well be attacking My capital city.
Commentary
This verse expresses Krsna’s thoughts. "I have come here with Balarama (arya misra), the most worshipable." This however is not the opinion of Sukadeva, but someone else, as Sukadeva explains in verse 30.
Jīva Gosvāmī
Gauḍīya
Commentary
I have come here with my honorable (miśra) elder (ārya) Balarāma. Or I have come with (miśra) elders.
Śrīdhara Svāmī
Gauḍīya
Commentary
I have come to Indraprastha (iha). Perhaps (nūnam) kings have attacked Dvārakā.

Personal Guidance
Kṛṣṇa thought: kings partial to Śiśupāla may be attacking My city. The Lord anticipated retaliation even before it was visible; mature insight projects forward.
Reflection Questions
- Where could anticipating consequences ahead of time spare me a crisis?
- What current decision has predictable retaliation I haven't yet planned for?
Analogy
Kṛṣṇa thinks aloud: "Since I came here with Balarāma, kings who favored Śiśupāla may well be attacking My city." Even the Supreme Lord, who needs no calculation, models open consideration of foreseeable danger — bhakti is not careless of consequences merely because Bhagavān is in charge.
