Important Words
-
śuddha - bhāva
—
pure love
Compound: śuddha (pure) + bhāva (emotion, mood). The Lords' submission is not strategic but pure-hearted. Gauḍīyas note: śuddha-bhāva is the early threshold of prema; the verse names the disciples' inner state by its rasa-grade.
-
anuvṛttibhiḥ
—
by the submissive acts
Anu + √vṛt — to follow after. Anuvṛtti is the disciple's tracing of the guru's wishes. Plural — many such acts, not one grand gesture. Sustained discipleship is the standard.
-
vedān akhilān
—
the entire Vedas
Akhila = complete. Sāndīpani teaches the full śruti — no truncation. The chapter underlines that Vedic transmission is full when bhāva is pure.
-
sa - aṅga - upaniṣadaḥ
—
with six aṅgas and Upaniṣads
Aṅgas = śikṣā, kalpa, vyākaraṇa, nirukta, chandas, jyotiṣa. The traditional six. Plus the Upaniṣads — Vedānta's text-base. The whole canonical apparatus is named.
-
dvija - varaḥ
—
the best of brāhmaṇas
Sāndīpani given a superlative epithet. Gauḍīyas: a guru who can satisfy Bhagavān's submission has earned dvija-vara status by definition. The disciple's bhāva exalts the guru's title.
That best of brāhmaṇas, the spiritual master Sāndīpani, was satisfied with Their submissive behavior, and thus he taught Them the entire Vedas, together with their six corollaries and the Upaniṣads.

Translation
That best of brāhmaṇas, the spiritual master Sāndīpani, was satisfied with Their submissive behavior, and thus he taught Them the entire Vedas, together with their six corollaries and the Upaniṣads.
Śrīdhara Svāmī
Gauḍīya
Commentary
He was satisfied by their actions conducted with bhakti (śuddha-bhāva). This will be explained later by the Lord in the story of Śrīdāmā and therefore is not explained by Śukadeva here. They learned the four Vedas. He was famous as a teacher (guruḥ) or was accepted as ācārya (guruḥ). Thus he spoke with great affection (provāca). He taught only to them as kṣatriyas.

Personal Guidance
Satisfied with Their submissive behavior, Sāndīpani teaches them the entire Vedas with six corollaries and Upaniṣads. Submission to a teacher opens floodgates of knowledge that resistance never could.
Reflection Questions
- Where has your resistance to a teacher closed off teaching that was ready to flow?
- What single act of submission could reopen instruction?
Analogy
Sāndīpani, pleased, pours into the two Lords the whole Veda with its six aṅgas and the Upaniṣads — like a brāhmaṇa filling a pot with Ganges water, not asking whether the pot needs filling. Bhagavān receives every śruti He Himself emitted, through the guru's mouth, because that is how śruti is to be received.
