  • go - dhanam — their cows
go (cow) + dhana (wealth). The cows are Vraja's wealth in the literal sense and the rasa-sense — the entire affluence of the līlā. Kṛṣṇa's first protection has been go-dhana, and Vraja gathers it first on the return.
  • śakaṭa - ūḍha — loaded upon their wagons
śakaṭa (wagon) + ūḍha (loaded, carried). The same wagons Kṛṣṇa kicked apart as an infant (10.7) now carry the household goods home from under Govardhana — a quiet recall of an earlier chapter for the rasika reader.
  • sthavirāḥ — the old people
From √sthā — those who have stood (a long time). The aged. The verse takes pains to list them — Vraja's most vulnerable came in safe and leave safe. Gauḍīya tone: protection's measure is what happens to the smallest and oldest.
  • śanaiḥ — slowly
Adverb. The verse adopts Bhāgavata pace at the end — śanaiḥ, gently. The same word the Gītā uses for the gradual recovery of buddhi (Bg 6.25). After seven days of crisis, the return is calibrated to the children's step.
After collecting their respective cows and loading their paraphernalia into their wagons, the cowherd men went out. The women, children and elderly persons gradually followed them.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
After collecting their respective cows and loading their paraphernalia into their wagons, the cowherd men went out. The women, children and elderly persons gradually followed them.
Commentary

Loading their goods on the carts (sakatotokaranam), the cowherd men emerged from under the mountain.

Jīva Gosvāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

After he had lifted the mountain and then spoken (tataḥ), the cowherds, who had defeated Indra by accepting Kṛṣṇa and had resorted to Kṛṣṇa alone (te), left the cavity. Gathering the cows, along with wealth (upakaraṇam) and carts, the cowherds, women, children and elders slowly left, since if they quickly left all at once, they would be crushed.

Śrīdhara Svāmī Gauḍīya
Commentary

Because of his words (tataḥ) they (te), who were in the hole, went out. Or the people, though happily standing there, gazing at Kṛṣṇa (te), went out. Or having seen the beautiful face of Kṛṣṇa in a group for seven days, the women and children and old people went out slowly, taking their wealth in carts and the cows. They went slowly because that was their nature, or because of fear of more rain. Or they could not go to the forest because they could not give up looking at Kṛṣṇa. Or everyone went slowly since they were attached to seeing his face at that time.

Jiva
The cowherd men gather cows and load wagons; women, children, elders follow gradually. Recovery from crisis is staged and orderly — the strongest move first, others follow at sustainable pace.
Reflection Questions
  • What recovery in my life needs ordered staging rather than rushed simultaneity?
  • Whose pace should I be matching rather than asking them to match mine?

Vraja files out — cowherds first with the herds, then wagons of household goods, then the women and children and old people, slowly. It is not a victory parade; it is a quiet return, the geometry of trust resuming its everyday shape. The crisis has not even bruised the routine.
