  • tayoḥ — of the two brothers
Dual genitive. Both Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma are credited. Gauḍīya: even though verse 32 names only Balarāma as the killer of Dhenuka, the demigods praise tayoḥ — both — because in Vraja the kill belongs to the dual, not the single.
  • su-mahat karma — very great act
su (very) + mahat (great) + karman (act). Gauḍīya: karma here means act, not karma-bondage. Bhagavān's acts are su-mahat-karma — extraordinary, but produce no binding karma for Him; the bondage-rule does not apply to the Lord.
  • vibudha-ādayaḥ — the demigods and other elevated living beings
vibudha (well-awake; demigod) + ādi (and others). Gauḍīya: vibudhas are wise but not Vaiṣṇava-gradients — they watch from heaven; they applaud from a distance. The closer view belongs to the cowherds.
  • puṣpa-varṣāṇi — downpours of flowers
puṣpa (flower) + varṣa (rain). Gauḍīya: puṣpa-varṣa is the signature divya-celebration — appears at Pūtanā's death, Aghāsura's death, Kāliya's defeat. Vraja-killings are always celebrated from above.
  • tuṣṭuvuḥ — they offered prayers
Perfect of √stu — to praise. Gauḍīya: the demigods offer stuti — formal praise. Their bhakti is reverence; the gopīs' bhakti, by contrast, is mādhurya — closeness. Both bhakti, different distances.
Hearing of this magnificent feat of the two brothers, the demigods and other elevated living beings rained down flowers and offered music and prayers in glorification.

Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī comments that the demigods, great sages and other exalted beings were all astonished and ecstatic upon seeing the unusually swift and nonchalant way in which Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma killed the very powerful ass demons in the Tāla forest.

Translation
Hearing of this magnificent feat of the two brothers, the demigods and other elevated living beings rained down flowers and offered music and prayers in glorification.

Commentary

Though the pastime was for pleasing the cowherd boys, others were also pleased. This is described in two verses. Though the killing of Dhenuka and his associates was nothing for Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma, the devatās took it as a great feat (sumahat-karma) since Dhenuka had previously caused fear to the devatās and had acted ferociously to others. Ādayaḥ means that the Vidyādharas and great sages also rejoiced as they gradually learned of the event. Along with the music, there was dancing and singing, since generally these actions accompany each other.

Demigods and great sages rain flowers, play music, and offer prayers. When the Lord acts cleanly, higher beings notice and celebrate. Real victories attract heavenly recognition, not just earthly relief.
Reflection Questions
  • What recent quiet victory of mine deserves heaven's recognition more than I have admitted?
  • Where am I starving for human applause when the celestial chorus is already singing?

After a great act, drums roll, flowers fall, witnesses cheer — and the heavens themselves participate. The demigods rain puṣpa-varṣa on the Tālavana victory, play music, offer prayers. The verse confirms cosmic recognition: this was not a village scuffle. The whole heavenly assembly knows what just happened in a small palm-grove of Vraja.
