Arjuna, who is guided by the infallible Lord as friend and driver, thus satisfied the dear lady by such statements. Then he dressed in armor and armed himself with furious weapons, and getting into his chariot, he set out to follow Aśvatthāmā, the son of his martial teacher.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Thus pacifying her with many sweet words, Arjuna, whose friend and charioteer was Kṛṣṇa, holding his terrifying bow, with Hanumān on his flag, put on his armor and pursued Aśvatthāmā on his chariot.
Commentary

Acyuta-mitra-sūtaḥ means who had Kṛṣṇa as his friend and charioteer. Daṁśitaḥ means “putting on armor.”

Arjuna, guided by the infallible Lord as charioteer, set out armed. The devotee acts decisively, but with the Lord as the inner driver. We act, He directs.
Reflection Questions
  • Where am I acting without inviting the inner driver?
  • What would change if I let the Lord steer my next hard decision?
