In this way he passed his life in household affairs for some time, but then he became detached from material enjoyment. To renounce material association, he accepted the vānaprastha order and went to the forest. His devoted wives followed him, for they had no shelter other than their husband.

Translation
In this way he passed his life in household affairs for some time, but then he became detached from material enjoyment. He accepted the vānaprastha order and went to the forest. His devoted wives followed him, for they had no shelter other than their husband.
Nyāsam means giving up material association, taking vāna-prastha.
Personal Guidance
Detachment finally comes; Saubhari takes vānaprastha and his wives, finding no other shelter, follow. Genuine turning toward the Lord eventually pulls along even those tied to us by our former entanglements.
Reflection Questions
- If I genuinely turned toward the Lord, who in my life might follow because they trust me?
- Am I underestimating the spiritual responsibility I carry for those who depend on me?
