O best of the Kuru dynasty, after he drank some water, King Ambarīṣa, meditating upon the Supreme Personality of Godhead within his heart, waited for the return of the great mystic Durvāsā Muni.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
O best of the Kuru dynasty! After he drank some water, King Ambarīṣa, meditating upon the Supreme Lord with his mind, waited for the return of the best of brāhmaṇas. Prayacaṣṭa means “he waited.”
After drinking, Ambarīṣa meditates on the Lord in his heart, waiting for Durvāsā's return. The devotee's intelligent compromise is followed by surrendered waiting, not anxious activity.
Reflection Questions
  • After making a tough call, do I keep stirring or do I sit with the Lord?
  • Where could waiting in meditation be the most active thing I do today?
