Lord Śiva said: Whatever your father has said is the truth, and you also are speaking the same truth. Therefore, I, who know the Vedic mantras, shall explain transcendental knowledge to you.

Translation
Śiva said: Whatever your father has said is the truth, and you also are speaking the same truth. Therefore, I, who know the Vedic mantras, shall explain transcendental knowledge to you.
Śiva spoke. This conversation is famous in the śruti. Vahvṛca-brāhmaṇa says nābhāge diṣtām śaṁsati: he spoke teachings to Nābhaga.
Personal Guidance
Pleased by the honest exchange, Śiva offers to teach Nābhāga transcendental knowledge. When we honor the truth and the elder, more comes back than the disputed object itself.
Reflection Questions
- What knowledge has been offered to me as a bonus for an honest interaction, and have I received it?
- Where would humility unlock a teaching that grasping never could?
