How strange it is that one of us has attempted to do something wrong to Cyavana Muni, the son of Bhṛgu. It certainly appears that someone among us has polluted this āśrama.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
You have committed some offense to Cyavana. It is certain that someone among us must have done something to pollute his hermitage. You have committed (vicestitam) some offense. Someone among us must have committed an offense.
Śaryāti immediately suspects an offense to the sage and asks who is responsible. Mature leadership treats community symptoms as moral data, not just logistical problems.
Reflection Questions
  • When something stops working in my world, do I look for moral causes or only technical ones?
  • Where could I be the leader who names the unspoken offense?
