Translation
O King! The only son of Karṇa was Vṛṣasena. Druhyu, the third son of Yayāti, had a son named Babhru, and the son of Babhru was known as Setu. Druhya was the son of Yayāti.
Karṇa's only son is Vṛṣasena; Druhyu's line continues through Babhru and Setu. Even the mightiest warrior has just one biological son who is then a single line — earthly continuance is thin.
Reflection Questions
  • Where am I overestimating the number of descendants who will actually carry me forward?
  • What single 'son' (literal or symbolic) deserves more of my present attention?
