Translation
From Devadatta came a son known as Agniveśya, who was the fire-god Agni himself. This son, who was a great sage, was well known as Kānīna and Jātūkarṇya. Agniveśya was known as Kānīna and Jātūkarṇa.
Agniveśya, the fire-god in human form, becomes a celebrated saint. Sometimes the divine slips into ordinary family lineages to model what saintliness looks like up close.
Reflection Questions
  • Whose seemingly ordinary life in my orbit might actually be a saintly descent in disguise?
  • Am I treating people based on their surface or watching for the divine within them?
