When Yayāti received this benediction from Śukrācārya, he requested his eldest son: My dear son Yadu, please give me your youth in exchange for my old age and invalidity.

Translation
When Yayāti received this benediction from Śukrācārya, he requested his eldest son (born from Devayānī): My dear son Yadu, please give me your youth in exchange for my old age.
Yayāti asks his eldest son Yadu to take his old age. Parents sometimes ask children to shoulder the consequences of their parents' unfinished appetites — and this request itself is a form of failure.
Reflection Questions
  • Where am I subtly asking my children or juniors to absorb costs that should be mine?
  • What desire of mine, if I named it honestly, would I stop offloading?
