Lord Paraśurāma still lives as an intelligent brāhmaṇa in the mountainous country known as Mahendra. Completely satisfied, having given up all the weapons of a kṣatriya, he is always worshiped, adored and offered prayers for his exalted character and activities by such celestial beings as the Siddhas, Cāraṇas and Gandharvas.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Paraśurāma still lives as an intelligent brāhmaṇa in the place known as Mahendra. Completely satisfied, having given up all the weapons of a kṣatriya, he is always worshiped for his exalted character by the Siddhas, Cāraṇas and Gandharvas.
Paraśurāma still lives at Mahendra, having given up weapons, satisfied, worshiped by Siddhas and Gandharvas. The wrathful Lord settles into peaceful retirement — every righteous fight, after its time, deserves to be laid down.
Reflection Questions
  • What 'weapon' have I kept in hand long past its useful season?
  • Where could I follow Paraśurāma into an honored, weaponless retirement from an old fight?
