Although requested again and again by Bṛhaspati, the spiritual master of the demigods, Soma did not return Tārā. This was due to his false pride. Consequently, a fight ensued between the demigods and the demons.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Although requested again and again by Bṛhaspati, the guru of the devatās, Soma did not return Tārā out of pride. Consequently, a fight ensued between the devatās and the demons.
Despite the guru's repeated requests, Soma refuses to return Tārā. False pride can override every reasonable plea — and when even sound voices cannot recover us, war becomes inevitable.
Reflection Questions
  • Whose repeated reasonable request am I currently rebuffing?
  • What 'war' is brewing in my life because I will not back down?
