Seeing His wife in that condition, Lord Rāmacandra was very compassionate. When Rāmacandra came before her, she was exceedingly happy to see her beloved, and her lotuslike mouth showed her joy.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Seeing his dear wife in misery, Rāmacandra was very compassionate. When Rāmacandra came before her, her face blossomed like a lotus in joy.
Reunion lights up Sītā's face like a lotus opening. Whatever long darkness preceded reunion with the Lord, the moment itself dissolves the gloom — the body itself testifies to the meeting.
Reflection Questions
  • What memory do I have of a 'lotus opening' moment of nearness to the Lord?
  • What is one practice that could call that opening again?
