pāṇḍu-nandana
O son of Pāṇḍu (Mahārāja Parīkṣit).
O son of the Pāṇḍu dynasty, when Mandara Mountain was thus being used as a churning rod in the Ocean of Milk, it had no support, and therefore although held by the strong hands of the demigods and demons, it sank into the water.

Gauḍīya
Translation
O son of the Pāṇḍu dynasty! While the ocean was being churned, Mandara Mountain, though held by the strong devatās and demons, sank in the water because it had no support, because of its weight.
Personal Guidance
Without support, the mountain sank — even with both armies pulling. Strength applied to the wrong base produces nothing. Spiritual effort needs a foundation; without it, our churning just disappears beneath the surface.
Reflection Questions
- What 'support' is missing under my current sādhana that is causing it to sink despite effort?
- Am I trying to churn without first ensuring something stable beneath?
