One day while King Satyavrata was performing austerities by offering water on the bank of the river Kṛtamālā, a small fish appeared in the water in his palms.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
One day while King Satyavrata was offering tarpaṇa in the River Kṛtamālā, a small fish appeared in the water that he held in his palms.
While offering water at the Kṛtamālā, a small fish appeared in his palms. The first encounter is tiny. The fish that will become eight million miles long arrives as something palm-sized. Begin with what is held.
Reflection Questions
  • What 'small fish' is currently in my palms that I am about to dismiss?
  • Where do I miss large divine arrivals because their first form is too modest?
