It was in your dynasty that Hiraṇyākṣa was born. Carrying only his own club, he wandered the globe alone, without assistance, to conquer all directions, and no hero he met could rival him.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
In your dynasty Hiraṇyākṣa was born. Carrying his club, he wandered the globe alone, without assistance, to conquer all directions, and did not find a suitable rival. Yataḥ means “in which family.”
Hiraṇyākṣa, of your dynasty, wandered alone with only a club, conquering all directions — no hero rivaled him. The Lord acknowledges the strength of the very lineage He came to chasten. Honest assessment precedes correction.
Reflection Questions
  • Where do I refuse to acknowledge an opponent's real prowess because it complicates my story?
  • What lineage of strength in me deserves honest naming — even where it later needs disciplining?
