You do not know what a dangerous position you have accepted by promising to give Him land. I do not think that this promise is good for you. It will bring great harm to the demons.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
I do not think that the dangerous promise you made to him in ignorance is proper. It brings great misfortune to the demons. Upagataḥ means attained.
You do not know what a dangerous position you have taken; this promise will harm the demons. The guru frames the gift as danger to one's own side. He sees only loss; he does not yet see what the loss will unlock.
Reflection Questions
  • Where am I being warned by an advisor whose perspective is narrower than the situation?
  • What 'danger' may actually be the doorway to the deepest blessing?
