A brāhmaṇa who is satisfied with whatever is providentially obtained is increasingly enlightened with spiritual power, but the spiritual potency of a dissatisfied brāhmaṇa decreases, as fire diminishes in potency when water is sprinkled upon it.

Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura
Gauḍīya
Translation
The power of the brāhmaṇa increases when he is satisfied by what comes of its own accord. That power is destroyed by dissatisfaction, like fire extinguished by water.
Āśuśukṣaṇiḥ means fire.
Personal Guidance
A satisfied brāhmaṇa increases in spiritual power; a dissatisfied one diminishes like fire sprinkled with water. Spiritual potency runs on contentment. Discontent is the literal extinguishing of the inner fire.
Reflection Questions
- Where has my recent dissatisfaction visibly diminished my spiritual energy?
- What contentment could I cultivate to fan the fire higher?
