Translation
Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: When the Supreme Lord heard Bali Mahārāja speaking words of dharma, he was pleased and in delight replied as follows. In the Nineteenth Chapter, Śukrācārya advises Bali not to give three steps of land.
Hearing Bali speak in terms of religious principles, Vāmana was satisfied and began to praise him. Speaking dharmically pleases the Lord even when the speaker is a demon. The Lord honors right speech wherever it appears.
Reflection Questions
  • Where do I dismiss religious language from people I consider outside my camp?
  • What dharmic statement of mine has been heard by the Lord even when I forgot to credit it as His?
