Aditi stood silently with folded hands, unable to offer prayers to the Lord. Because of transcendental bliss, tears filled her eyes, and the hairs on her body stood on end. Because she could see the Supreme Personality of Godhead face to face, she felt ecstasy, and her body trembled.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Aditi stood silently with folded hands, unable to offer prayers to the Lord. Tears filled her eyes, the hairs on her body stood on end, and her body trembled.
She stood silent, hands folded, unable to pray — tears, raised hairs, trembling. Sometimes prayer fails at the moment of meeting; presence overwhelms speech. Silence before the Lord is its own bhakti.
Reflection Questions
  • Where do I keep talking to the Lord when silence would be the deeper response?
  • When was I last unable to formulate a prayer because I was already met — and did I honor that silence?
