namaḥ
I offer my respectful obeisances unto You.
I offer my respectful obeisances unto You, Lord Śiva, or Rudra, who are the reservoir of all potencies, the reservoir of all knowledge, and the master of everyone.
Purport
It is the system for one to offer obeisances unto the expansion or incarnation of the Lord. Lord Śiva is the incarnation of ignorance, one of the material modes of nature.

Gauḍīya
Translation
I offer my respectful obeisances unto you as Śiva or Rudra, who are the reservoir of all potencies, the lord of all knowledge, and the master of everyone.
Personal Guidance
Obeisances to You as Śiva-Rudra — reservoir of all potencies and knowledge. Even prayer to Viṣṇu includes obeisance to the destructive aspect. The complete prayer honors every face of the one Lord.
Reflection Questions
- Whose 'destructive' face do I avoid in my own worship — and what does that avoidance cost?
- Where am I selectively honoring only the comfortable aspects of divinity?
