Translation
When Mahārāja Bali had thus performed the special rites advised by the brāhmaṇas and had received, by their grace, the equipment for fighting, he circumambulated the brāhmaṇas and offered them obeisances. He also saluted Prahlāda Mahārāja and offered obeisances to him. He had obtained articles for fighting which were supplied by the brāhmaṇas.
Equipped, Bali circumambulated the brāhmaṇas and offered obeisances, also saluting Prahlāda. Even before using the gifts, he honored the givers. Gratitude precedes deployment. Power received without thanks corrupts.
Reflection Questions
  • What gift have I begun using without first properly honoring the giver?
  • Where would a circumambulation — a literal or symbolic walk-around of acknowledgment — re-anchor my current effort?
