No one who was sinful, envious, violent toward other living entities, cunning, falsely proud, lusty or greedy could enter that city. The people who lived there were all devoid of these faults.
Gauḍīya Ācāryas
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura
Gauḍīya
Translation
No one who was sinful, envious, violent toward other living entities, cunning, falsely proud, lusty or greedy could enter that city. The people who lived there were all devoid of these faults.
Ebhiḥ means “of these faults.”
Personal Guidance
No sinful, envious, violent, cunning, falsely proud, lusty, or greedy person could enter. The residents were free of these faults. Heaven is not unconditional admission; it is the place such qualities are not.
Reflection Questions
- Which of these seven faults still operates in me, and how is it currently delaying my Indrapurī-residence?
- Where do I imagine 'heaven' as a place I'd be welcome as I currently am?
