His senses being agitated, Lord Śiva, victimized by lusty desires, began to follow Her, just as a lusty elephant follows a she-elephant.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
His senses being agitated, Lord Śiva, victimized by lust, began to follow her, just as a male elephant follows a she-elephant.
His senses agitated, Śiva, victim of lust, followed like a lusty elephant after a she-elephant. The Bhāgavatam will not soften the comparison. When lust takes over, dignity goes; we become animal-like in our pursuit.
Reflection Questions
  • Where has my recent behavior matched the 'lusty elephant' simile more than I want to admit?
  • Whom can I name in my life who recently exhibited this same elephantine behavior, and what does my judgment of them reveal?
