Being beaten by Jambhāsura’s club, Indra’s elephant was confused and aggrieved. Thus it touched its knees to the ground and fell unconscious.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
In pain from being struck by the club, Indra's elephant became perturbed. It fell on its knees to the ground and became completely unconscious.
Indra's elephant fell unconscious, struck by the demon's club. Even mighty carriers get knocked down. What I rely on for transport in spiritual life is not invincible; planning for its temporary failure is wisdom.
Reflection Questions
  • What 'carrier' in my spiritual life — practice, community, habit — am I treating as if it cannot fall?
  • What is my backup when the elephant goes down?
