Translation
They severed one another's heads, using weapons like bhuśuṇḍis, [Note: This is perhaps a firearm.] disks, clubs, spears, three-pointed spears, pikes, firebrands, barbed darts, hatchets, swords, lances, iron clubs, hammers and javelins.
These are different types of weapons.
Personal Guidance
Heads severed with bhuśuṇḍis, cakras, clubs, paraśvadhas, mudgaras. The Bhāgavatam lists weapons in detail — refusing to abstract violence. Naming the instruments forces us to see what we usually look past.
Reflection Questions
- What instruments of harm in my world do I leave unnamed because naming them would be uncomfortable?
- Where do I prefer abstract talk of conflict to specific accounting of damage?
