Hiraṇyakaśipu has undertaken a most severe type of austerity. Although his plan is not unknown to you, kindly listen as we submit his intentions.
Gauḍīya Ācāryas
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura
Gauḍīya
Translation
He has made a vow to perform extreme austerity. Please hear what we reveal if it is not already known to you.
Personal Guidance
The demigods say Hiraṇyakaśipu's intentions are already known to Brahmā, but they will articulate them anyway. Even when the wise already see the truth, naming it aloud serves the act of asking. Speak the situation; don't assume omniscience excuses silence.
Reflection Questions
- What truth are you withholding from a wise person because 'they already know'?
- How does naming a problem aloud change your relationship to it?
