Because of the loss of his wife, the kuliṅga bird lamented with tears in his eyes. Meanwhile, following the dictations of mature time, the hunter, who was very carefully hidden in the distance, released his arrow, which pierced the body of the kuliṅga bird and killed him.

Translation
The hiding hunter, inspired by time, pierced with his arrow that lamenting bird, grieved by separation from his wife, with tears in its eyes.

Personal Guidance
While the male kuliṅga laments, the patient hunter releases his arrow and kills him too. Excessive grief blinds us to the arrow already taking aim. Mourning that abandons vigilance leaves us doubly exposed.
Reflection Questions
- Where has grief left you blind to a real danger now approaching?
- How can mourning and watchfulness coexist in you?
