Seated in their airplanes in the sky, the inhabitants of the higher planetary systems beat many kettledrums. The demigods, saints, Pitās, Siddhas and various great personalities showered flowers on the head of Lord Śiva, wishing him all victory, and the Apsarās began to chant and dance with great pleasure.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Drums sounded in the sky. Seated in hundreds of airplanes, the devatās, sages, Pitṛs, Siddhas and various great personalities showered flowers to wish him victory, and the Apsaras began to chant and dance with great pleasure.
The higher beings beat kettledrums, shower flowers, sing, and dance. Celebration is itself appropriate worship after a great deliverance. Heaven does not stay solemn when evil falls; neither should we.
Reflection Questions
  • Where do you suppress celebration of past deliverances out of misplaced solemnity?
  • What ritual joy is appropriate for the wins of your life?
