Nārada Muni said: When the demigods, who are always powerful by the mercy of Lord Kṛṣṇa, fought with the asuras, the asuras were defeated, and therefore they took shelter of Maya Dānava, the greatest of the demons.
Gauḍīya Ācāryas
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura
Gauḍīya
Translation
Nārada said: When the demons were defeated by the devatās in battle, made powerful by Kṛṣṇa, the demons took shelter of the demon Maya, their supreme teacher.
Anena means “by Kṛṣṇa.”
Personal Guidance
The defeated asuras take shelter of Maya Dānava, greatest of demons. When defeated, the unrighteous seek out a master craftsman of illusion. Watch where the broken go for their next strategy — it tells you the next move of evil.
Reflection Questions
- Whom does your community's defeated turn to for help, and what does that say?
- Where might you steer the defeated toward a real refuge instead of cleverer illusion?
