the gatekeeper associates of Viṣṇu.
These two associates of Lord Viṣṇu — Jaya and Vijaya — maintained a feeling of enmity for a very long time. Because of always thinking of Kṛṣṇa in this way, they regained the shelter of the Lord, having returned home, back to Godhead.
Purport
Whatever their position, certainly Jaya and Vijaya always thought of Kṛṣṇa. Therefore at the end of the mauṣala-līlā, these two associates of the Lord returned to Kṛṣṇa. There is no difference between Kṛṣṇa’s body and Nārāyaṇa’s body. Therefore although they visibly entered the body of Kṛṣṇa, they actually reentered Vaikuṇṭhaloka as the doorkeepers of Lord Viṣṇu. Through Lord Kṛṣṇa’s body, they returned to Vaikuṇṭha, although they seemed to have attained sāyujya-mukti in Kṛṣṇa’s body.

Translation
These two associates of Lord Viṣṇu—Jaya and Vijaya—by meditation with intense, continuous hatred of the Lord, entered Kṛṣṇa, and then went to the side of the Lord as his two associates in Vaikuṇṭha.
Acyuta-sātmatām nitau means that they attained the state of their forms (ātmatām) being situated with Kṛṣṇa by intense meditation. After Kṛṣṇa’s disappearance pastime, they returned to the side of Nārāyaṇa, since Nārāyaṇa was also within Kṛṣṇa’s body up to the time of Kṛṣṇa’s disappearance. [Note: When Kṛsṇa appears, all other forms enter into Kṛṣṇa’s body.] Thus Jaya and Vijaya also entered Kṛṣṇa’s body and remained there. That Śiśupāla and Dantavakra merged with Kṛṣṇa is a perception of the common people.

Personal Guidance
Through long enmity, Jaya and Vijaya kept Kṛṣṇa constantly in mind — and so returned home. Sustained attention to the Divine, in any mood, eventually delivers the soul back to its source. Direction of mind matters more than flavor of mind.
Reflection Questions
- What sustained direction is your mind taking, regardless of its surface flavor?
- If your dominant thought-stream over years became your destination, where would you arrive?
