Thereafter the same Jaya and Vijaya, the two doorkeepers of Lord Viṣṇu, took birth as Rāvaṇa and Kumbhakarṇa, begotten by Viśravā in the womb of Keśinī. They were extremely troublesome to all the people of the universe.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Next, the two doorkeepers of Lord Viṣṇu, born as Rāvaṇa and Kumbhakarṇa, begotten by Viśravā in the womb of Keśinī, again afflicted the whole world.
In their second birth, Jaya and Vijaya became Rāvaṇa and Kumbhakarṇa, tormenting the entire universe. The same fallen pair, now in a new form, played out their curse-period role with cosmic consequence. Patterns repeat across lives until they are resolved.
Reflection Questions
  • What recurring pattern in your life seems to be playing out across chapters?
  • What would it take to consciously bring this pattern to resolution rather than another iteration?
