While Jaya and Vijaya, thus cursed by the sages, were falling to the material world, they were addressed as follows by the same sages, who were very kind to them. “O doorkeepers, after three births you will be able to return to your positions in Vaikuṇṭha, for then the duration of the curse will have ended.”
Gauḍīya Ācāryas
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura
Gauḍīya
Translation
While Jaya and Vijaya, thus cursed by the sages, were falling to the material world, they were again addressed by the merciful sages. "After three births you will be able to return to your positions in Vaikuṇṭha."
“You will be able to attain Vaikuṇṭha (lokāya kalpatām) after three births.”
Personal Guidance
Even in cursing, the sages were kind — they limited the duration to three births. Spiritual correction at its best is firm yet bounded by mercy. When you must rebuke someone, leave a clear path back.
Reflection Questions
- When you correct others, do you leave the door open for return?
- Where has someone's bounded correction in your life turned out to be a great mercy?
