Seeing Vṛtrāsura’s disposition, Indra, the King of heaven, became intolerant and threw at him one of his great clubs, which are extremely difficult to counteract. However, as the club flew toward him, Vṛtrāsura easily caught it with his left hand.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Seeing Vṛtrāsura's disposition, Indra became indignant and threw a great club, difficult to counteract, which flews towards Vṛtrāsura as he approached. However, Vṛtrāsura easily caught it with his left hand. Abhidravate means that Vṛtrāsura was approaching him.
Intolerant, Indra hurled a difficult-to-counter club; Vṛtra caught it left-handed. Sometimes our best weapons are caught and turned by stronger hands.
Reflection Questions
  • Which 'club' I am proud of has actually been easily caught by my opponent?
  • Where do I need a different tool entirely?
