words.
When insignificant persons use rough words to cast false, angry accusations against saintly persons, their fruitless words do not disturb the great personalities. Similarly, all the efforts of the demons against the demigods, who were favorably situated under the protection of Kṛṣṇa, were futile.
Purport
There is a Bengali saying that if a vulture curses a cow to die, the curse will not be effective. Similarly, accusations made by demoniac persons against devotees of Kṛṣṇa cannot have any effect. The demigods are devotees of Lord Kṛṣṇa, and therefore the curses of the demons were futile.

Translation
Just as rough words pronounced by low persons are futile against saintly persons, all the efforts of the demons against the devatās under the protection of Kṛṣṇa were futile.
Uṣati should be uṣatyaḥ (harsh speech), expressing misfortune, such as saying again and again to the Vaiṣṇavas, “You should die immediately.” Rukṣa means abusive speech such as “Ah! What a low person you are!”
Personal Guidance
When insignificant persons hurl rough words against saints, the words do not disturb the great; so too the demons' efforts against the Lord's protected demigods. Spiritual immunity actually exists.
Reflection Questions
- Where am I taking insults personally that should not penetrate?
- What in me is meant to be immune yet is still reactive?
