Low-class people, due to their gross ignorance, introduce a system of religion that deviates from the Vedic principles. Following their own mental concoctions, they automatically fall down into the darkest regions of existence.

In this connection, one may see Bhagavad-gītā, Chapter Sixteen, where there is a description of the downfall of the asuras (16.16 and 16.23).

Translation
These lowest of people, faithful to an ignorant tradition concocted by themselves, which will not accept the authority of the Vedas, will fall down to hell.

Personal Guidance
Mental concoctions presented as religion sound liberating but lead steadily downward. The test of a path is not its novelty or aesthetic appeal but its grounding in revealed knowledge.
Reflection Questions
- Which 'spiritual' ideas in your current diet are concocted rather than rooted in genuine paramparā?
- What test do you actually apply before adopting a new spiritual teaching?
