Standing like flagstaffs on the summits of these four mountains are a mango tree, a rose apple tree, a kadamba tree and a banyan tree. Those trees are calculated to have a width of 100 yojanas [800 miles] and a height of 1,100 yojanas [8,800 miles]. Their branches also spread to a radius of 1,100 yojanas.

Translation
Standing like flagstaffs on the summits of these four mountains starting with Mandara are a mango tree, a rose apple (jambū) tree, a kadamba tree and a banyan tree. Those trees are calculated to have a width of 100 yojanas and a height of 1,100 yojanas. Their branches also spread out for a length of 1,100 yojanas.
Their height is over a thousand, meaning 1100 yojanas and their branches spread out that length. The width is 100 yojanas.
Personal Guidance
Vast trees — mango, rose apple, kadamba, banyan — stand like flagstaffs on the mountains. In sacred geography, even botany is grand and symbolic. Living things mark the territory; don't underestimate the power of what grows.
Reflection Questions
- What 'tree' is currently growing tall in your life, and what does it mark about the territory of your soul?
- What seedling are you planting now that could become someone's landmark?
