began to speculate.
At that time, all the persons assembled in the sacrificial arena — the priests, the chief of the sacrificial performance, and the brāhmaṇas and their wives — wondered where the darkness was coming from. Later they could understand that it was a dust storm, and all of them were full of anxiety.

Translation
Seeing the darkness in the northern direction, the priests, sponsors and assembled guests understood it was dust. The brāhmaṇas and their wives then thought, “Where has this dust come from?
When it became dark, they thought that it was impossible. Then they understood it was dust. “But where has this dust come from?”
Personal Guidance
The assembly wondered about the sudden darkness — they did not recognize what their own offense had summoned. Often we cannot read the storms we ourselves have called down. Develop the diagnostic of cause and effect.
Reflection Questions
- What storm in my life am I mystified by that I may have actually summoned?
- Where am I refusing to trace the present darkness to my past action?
