The great sage Maitreya said: While the citizens were thus praying to the most powerful King Pṛthu, the four Kumāras, who were as bright as the sun, arrived on the spot.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Maitreya said: While the people were praising Pṛthu, whose fame was wide-spread, four sages, shining like the sun, arrived there. In the Twenty-second Chapter, Sanatkumāra, after explaining jñāna, teaches bhakti to Pṛthu. Pragṛnatsu means praising.
While the citizens were praying, the four Kumāras — sun-bright — arrived. Sometimes great souls arrive precisely while the community is in prayer; the prayer creates the conditions for their descent.
Reflection Questions
  • Whose arrival in my life coincided with a moment of collective sincere prayer?
  • What prayer am I currently not making that might invite the right sages?
