This King, Pṛthu Mahārāja, by virtue of his affectionate glances and beautiful moonlike face, which is always smiling with great affection for the citizens, will enhance everyone’s peaceful life.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
He pleases the world by his moon-like face, his affectionate glance and charming, cheerful smile. His face is like the moon (amṛta-mūrtinā). This verse explains how he holds the body of the moon within himself.
His moonlike face and affectionate glances will enhance everyone's peace. The leader's countenance is itself a public good; soft gaze de-escalates whole rooms.
Reflection Questions
  • What does my face do to the rooms I enter?
  • Where could a more affectionate glance from me change someone's whole day?
