My dear son, those Yakṣas, who are descendants of Kuvera, are not actually the killers of your brother; the birth and death of every living entity are caused by the Supreme, who is certainly the cause of all causes.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
O son! These followers of Kuvera are not the killers of your brother. The cause of birth and death of living beings is the Lord. The conclusion is given. The Lord is the creator and destroyer.
Those Yakṣas didn't really kill your brother; the Supreme is the cause of all births and deaths. Locating the real Author of an event re-routes your anger from proxy to no-one — and then to acceptance.
Reflection Questions
  • Whom am I blaming as the proxy author of a loss that ultimately belongs to a larger arrangement?
  • Where could I shift my anger out of the personal and into the cosmic — and find it dissolve?
