On being asked to speak by the great sages of Naimiṣāraṇya, the son of Romaharṣaṇa, Sūta Gosvāmī, whose mind was absorbed in the transcendental pastimes of the Lord, said: Please hear what I shall now speak.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
When asked by the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya, Sūta, concentrating his mind on the Lord, then said, “Please listen.” Adhyātmam means mind.
Sūta Gosvāmī's mind is absorbed in the Lord's transcendental pastimes; only then does he speak. The best teaching comes from someone whose mind is already absorbed. Speak from absorption, not from obligation.
Reflection Questions
  • When I'm asked to share spiritual things, am I speaking from absorption or from performance?
  • What practice would keep my mind absorbed enough to speak well when asked?
