One day, Brahmā, the creator of the living entities, beheld his own reflection in the water, and admiring himself, he evolved Kimpuruṣas as well as Kinnaras out of that reflection.

Translation
Looking at his reflection in a mirror and thinking it beautiful, he created the Kinnara and Kimpuruṣas from his reflection.
His reflection appeared. From that the Kinnaras and Kimpuruṣas appeared. Pratyātmyena means reflection. He thought “I am beautiful” (ātmanā ātmānam mānayan). Ātmā-bhāsam means a mirror.
Personal Guidance
Brahmā sees his own reflection and from that admiration evolves Kimpuruṣas and Kinnaras. Self-admiration produces hybrid offspring — beings half-something. Self-fascination is creatively productive but rarely produces straightforward results.
Reflection Questions
- What 'Kinnara' (hybrid) work in my life is the offspring of my own self-fascination?
- How might I redirect that creative energy toward less mixed offspring?
