walking with us.
The demons praised her: Oh, what a beauty! What rare self-control! What a budding youth! In the midst of us all, who are passionately longing for her, she is moving about like one absolutely free from passion.
Gauḍīya Ācāryas
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura
Gauḍīya
Translation
What a beautiful form! What astounding patience she has! What fresh youth she has! We all desire here but she moves among us as if detached.
The demons talk under the influence of illusion created by lust.
Personal Guidance
The demons praise her budding youth and self-control even as they burn with longing. Demonic praise can dress up its lust in admiration. Watch what your compliments are really negotiating for.
Reflection Questions
- What hidden bargain might be inside compliments I'm receiving or giving?
- Where does my flattery actually mask a demand?
