Cruel and savage slogans were uttered by hosts of ruffian Yakṣas and Rākṣasas, who all either marched on foot or rode on horses, elephants or chariots.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
Murderous Yakṣas and Rākṣaṣas, with soldiers, horses, chariots and elephants, uttered fierce, violent words, such as “Kill! Kill!” Ativaiśasā means very fierce. Utsṛṣtāḥ means “produced.”
Cruel slogans rise from Yakṣas and Rākṣasas on foot, horse, elephant, and chariot. Mass demonic noise tries to overwhelm. The accompaniment of hostility is itself a sign that the fight is real and consequential.
Reflection Questions
  • What loud, hostile chorus is currently surrounding a battle I'm engaged in?
  • How do I keep listening for the Lord through the slogans?
