My Lord, the darkest evening, which covers the world, is fast approaching. Since You are the Soul of all souls, kindly kill him and win victory for the demigods.
Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura Gauḍīya
Translation
The frightening twilight, the destroyer of all planets, is approaching. O Lord! Soul of all beings! Be victorious for the devatās. Chambat-karī means destroyer.
The darkest evening approaches; Brahmā asks the Soul of all souls to win for the demigods. Some hours are inherently more difficult than others. Recognizing the approach of a 'dark evening' is itself a kind of wisdom.
Reflection Questions
  • What 'dark evening' is approaching in my context that needs action before it arrives?
  • How do I rally the right help before, rather than after, the difficult hour?
