Translation
Because of the curse of the brāhmaṇas which could not be nullified, the best of deities lost their bliss and a beauty and fell from the planet of the Lord.
The word “fell” should be supplied. Vigata-smayau means that they lost their bliss.

Personal Guidance
Jaya and Vijaya fall from Vaikuṇṭha, their beauty diminished, after the brāhmaṇas' curse. Even the highest position can be lost through a single misjudged act. Spiritual altitude is preserved by ongoing humility, not by past attainment.
Reflection Questions
- What 'Vaikuṇṭha' have I been entrusted with that I could fall from through a careless act?
- Where might my present beauty and luster require renewed humility?
